But the function of Hydraulic Cylinders is totally opposite. Its function is to push away the two forks form each other.

Maintenance is very important for the Fork positioner.  For smooth movement, roller chain should be oiled in a regular basis. Hydraulic Cylinders should not be bent rather it would have to keep straight. Before using, one should check out whether the gap in the fork is static or not.
