The hydraulic control valve is established at the top of the pinion gear, which does the conversion of steering force into hydraulic and torsion force. When the torsion bar revolves, the spool bar rotates along with this. The amount of rotation is completely dependant on the torsional force, which  is fixed by the operator. If no torsional force is applied to the steering wheel, the pressure on the both sides of the hydraulic lines would be same. The hydraulic lines of the high pressure fluids may vary depending on the rotation of the spool valve.

The most common problem of the power steering system of a forklift truck can be a broken belt or the leakage of the fluid. If it is used very frequently, the drive belt may fail or the fluid hose can burst. In case of leakage problems, the steering system may seem substantial. As the leakages are mostly found in the joints, the 3 pieces of seals should be greased regularly to keep those intact.
