 Yale - Brake Shoes

Yale brake shoes are made from professional-grade friction materials that will ensure a good stopping power to the forklift. Yale brake shoes are made to be durable, thus reducing the number of times they need to be replaced. The brake shoes made by Yale deliver a strong braking power and provide good noise and vibration reduction.

Brake shoes are one of the most important elements of the braking system. Due to the pressure, it exerts on the brake disk, the clogs prevent it from rotating. From the moment the disc is connected structurally to the wheel, contact between the wheel and the brake shoe implies a momentary braking of the wheels and therefore a continuous deceleration of the vehicle until it is completely stopped.

In essence, brake shoes are metal plates coated with special friction material. The substances from which this material is composed give the brake shoes a very high coefficient of friction, stiffness and wear resistance. Each manufacturer of brake shoes has its own methodology for achieving friction material, finalized to achieve maximum efficiency. We must not forget that the quality of this material depends on the efficiency of the braking process, especially in the case of unfavorable weather conditions. However, irrespective of their wear resistance, all friction materials have a limited service life. The more we wear the brake, the worse the sabot will be. If the brake shoe is worn, the braking process will require an increased effort. The direct result of this is the decreased maneuverability of the vehicle, and this involves a growing risk of being involved in a road accident. For this reason, regular replacement of brake shoes is more than just a recommendation. Do not forget that the brake shoes need to be replaced in a pair (when we say "in pair", we have in mind the front or backboards).

During vehicle braking, most of the mechanical load falls on the front brake shoes. Therefore, their usage time is two or sometimes three times shorter than that of the backboards. Buying a pair of brake shoes is subject to several factors, such as their conformity with the car model, their ability to withstand certain conditions and certain tasks, etc. Another thing to remember: by replacing the brake shoes, be careful about the condition of the discs. If necessary, replace these parts as well.
