 Yale - Forklift Fork Extensions

Yale forklift fork extensions come in need when you must lift objects that are longer than the forklifts’ forks. Forklift extensions are made from durable materials and they come equipped with safety locking mechanisms that will keep them in place.

Extensions of forklift forks are required when goods longer than forklift forks are to be transported from one point to another in the warehouse.

Fork extensions or fork extensions may be opened on their lower or open side. They must be secured on the forks with the help of a bolt, thus having safety during their use.

Extensions of the fork are locked with welded transverse rods or bolts behind the forks. For smaller loads, fork-lift attachments are generally made from a U-profile to the largest of the square profile.

The fork length of the forklift must be at least 60% of the length of the extension, otherwise elongators are not safe during use.

When using fork extensions, the forklift capacity is not reduced in any way. When the fork extensions are mounted and used according to the book, they will operate in a safe and good manner. When using fork extensions, they must be mounted accordingly, if not, under load they can increase the load center of the load handled, making the forklift to tip over.

Fork extension regulations are as follows:

  • Fork extensions must not be longer than 1.5 times the length of the fork.
  • Fork extensions should be capable of withstanding 3 times the normal load.
  • Fork extensions must have labeled on them their operating load, manufacturer number, serial number.
  • Fork extensions should only be mounted by the factory or the workers mounting them need to request a permit from a factory representative.
