Camshaft and Crankshaft are two prime components for any forklift engine, which enables the combustion energy to convert into mechanical power to rotate the forklift.

The Caterpillar Forklift Camshaft shape is very complex and it has multiple cam followers. Piston rod connects with this cam follower. The cam follower moves in a wave like motion which means when one side of cam goes up, the other side goes down. On the contrary, Crankshaft moves in a circular way with a piston rod attached with it. So, in every rotation of the crankshaft, the rod achieves same position. The Camshaft and Crankshaft move in a balanced way, so that they can provide enough force to rotate the forklift.

A camshaft is basically a series of cam. When the camshaft rotates, it enables the cams to move. The timing belt is connected with both camshaft and crankshaft to control the timing of fuel injection. Crankshaft moves with the piston goes up and down, which creates the linear force of the wheel. The cycle repeats itself and continuous movement of the piston is being achieved.
