Caterpillar Forklift differential is the torque transmitting medium to wheel. It is more similar to simple gear chain. The internal combustion engine rotates at very high revolution per minute. So it is required to reduce the speed of rotation in the wheel. The differential is the machine which exactly does this job.

Forklift differential plays three vital roles:

• It transmits the engine power to the wheel.
• It works as a final gear reducer of the forklift.  
• Persuasively slow down the rotational speed when it reaches the wheel.

The differential is a device which can divide the engine torque into two parts, so that both wheels can rotate at different speeds.
