What are forklift distributors?? They are basically electromechanical devices that deliver spark to the spark plugs during a particular time of the ignition cycle of the forklift internal combustion engine. It also directs high voltages to spark plugs in an accurate firing order.

What are the basic parts of the distributor?? The distributor is mainly comprised of a rotor or in other words a rotating arm & one can find it inside the distributor cap. This distributor cap is situated at the top level of the distributor shaft.

What are the functions of the distributor?? It has several functions like distributing high voltage from coil to the cylinders & this job is done by distributor cap and rotor. The coil rotates inside the distributor cap which remains connected to the rotor & when the spin of the rotor reaches a certain number of contact points, a high voltage pulse is produced. This pulse then gets transmitted to the spark plug placed in the targeted cylinder via spark plug wire. 

What are the symptoms of a distributor malfunction?? If your forklift machine shakes every now & then and you have found out that the problem is related to the ignition, then you are definitely having a problem with your distributor. Other symptoms include facing problem in the engine due to broken distributor cap & hearing high-pitched squealing noise while starting the forklift engine. Regular maintenance & check up might get you rid of this problem.
