Connecting the forklift battery with the electrical devices and ignition system is the main function of the Caterpillar Forklift Ignition Key / Switch. Besides, switching on the power for other electrical devices & activation of the starter solenoid & ignition system components are its additional tasks.

Problems & Solutions of Ignition Key  

• Coagulated dusts & filths stuck in lock cylinder can be washed away by electrical         contact cleaner and silicone spray.
• If the springs can’t fix a locked tumbler, some flips with tack hammer can get the springs released.
• If the keys become out of shape, they should be hammered on a plain surface.
• If the column locking mechanism is engaged, turn the steering left to right, back and forth.

Problems & Solutions of Ignition Switch

A problematic ignition switch can cause different problems to forklift. Following the steps, the problems can be addressed:

• The battery, air bag and the horn should be disconnected.
• The steering column would be removed then.
• Disconnect ignition switch assembly from wires & main column is removed out of its frame.
• Then it is oiled & and a new switch is installed.
