 Clark Forklift Clutch Disk

The Clark Forklift Clutch Disk carries out the vital function of engaging and disengaging the flywheel when it requires to rotate at the same rate as the engine. It sets up the contact of a transmission between the flywheels and the engine. While there is an unexpected pause, it allows the engine to run constantly.

The clutch assembly is constituted of a few accessories: the clutch disk, pressure plate and friction disk. The whole system is stuck together strongly by heavy-duty springs, diaphragm and release fork.

The clutch assembly is attached to the transmission when the friction plates connect it to the turning wheels of the engine. When the forklift operator takes his feet off the pedal, the pressure plate gets pushed against clutch disk by the springs, which is by turn forced against the turning wheels. By this procedure, an active connection is established between the engine and the transmission input shaft, which maintains the same speed of the engine and the transmission shaft. The amount of the friction force between the turning wheel and the clutch disk determines the force that can be held by the clutch. The friction force in the clutch functions in the same manner as friction force in a braking system. The spring, which pushes the clutch instead of weight forcing the block into the ground in the braking system is the only difference between them.

Due to continuous operation, the Clark Forklift Clutch Disk can face different problems. The most common problem is wearing out of the friction elements of the clutch disk, which can cause the clutch to glide away after a certain time and hence stopping the transmission of power to the wheels. To keep up the proficiency, routine maintenance and regular checks need to be ensured.
