IGNITION KEY - FITS HYSTER FORKLIFT

The Hyster Forklift Ignition Key/Switch is responsible for establishing the connection between the forklift battery and the electrical instruments and ignition system. Apart from this, it also switches on the power supply for the electrical devices and actuates the components of the starter solenoid and ignition system.

Problems & Solutions of Ignition key:

• If the tumbler gets locked, it can’t be fixed by the springs. Then, the tumbler should be flipped by tack hammer to free the springs.
• Sometimes in the lock cylinder, accumulated dirts and grimes can be found stuck. By the aid of silicone spray and electrical contact cleaner, these can be easily removed.
• The keys should be hit hardly by hammer on a smooth surface when they get out of shape.
• When the column locking mechanism gets jammed, turning the steering gear from left to right, back to forth may disengage it.

If an ignition switch starts malfunctioning, it may affect the total operation of the forklift engine. So problematic ignition switch should be replaced with a new one. Here are the procedures of installing a new switch:

• Firstly, the battery, horn and the airbag need to be disconnected.
• Then, the steering column should be shifted.
• Ignition switch assembly should be disengaged from the wires.
• The principal column is then dispelled from its mainframe.
• After proper lubrication of the main column, a new switch is established.
