 Yale - Forklift Wheel Cylinder

They are made from quality materials, making them durable. The build quality of the Yale forklift wheel cylinders ensure that brake fluid leaks are kept to a minimum.

The Yale forklift wheel cylinder is an element of the drum brake mechanism. It consists of a cast iron housing, with two aluminum pistons with compact rubber sleeves. In the front section of the pistons are introduced special steel elements which have the function of reducing wear. On both sides, the cylinder is equipped with rubber caps, which have the function of protecting it against dust. The brake fluid passes through the connection port located in the cylinder cavity. The wheel cylinder is provided with a special pump, well protected by a rubber cap. It has the function of favoring the exhaust air from the car braking system. An elastic support ring is inserted into the cylinder housing to adjust the gap between the brake shoes and the brake mechanism.

The wheel cylinder is required to convert the pressure of the liquid into the mechanical stress acting on the shoe. Receptor cylinders may be equipped with one or two pistons. When we apply the brake pedal, the cylinder piston moves under the influence of the brake fluid and starts to exert pressure on the brake shoe. Depending on the wear rate of the shoe gasket, there is a moment when the piston moves the support ring, thus exceeding its coupling effort. During the reverse travel, which takes place under the influence of the elastic brake release support, the support ring is in a new position because the tension of the elastic support is not sufficient to make it return to its original position. In this way, there is an automatic increase in the interval between the shoe and the drum.
